Thank you for considering adoption—every inquiry helps us give a rescued parrot a second chance at a loving home.

Reach out to us by text, phone, or email. Once you do, a volunteer will contact you to begin the interview process. We’ll ask a few questions to understand your lifestyle and expectations. Please answer honestly—this helps us find the best match for both you and the bird.

To ensure a safe and suitable environment, we ask to see the space in your home where your bird will live. This helps identify potential hazards and confirms the setup is appropriate for the species you’re adopting. Our goal is to support and educate—not to judge. Depending on where you live, this can be done virtually or in person with a designated volunteer. 

While you may have a favorite in mind, your first choice might not be the best fit. We carefully consider each bird’s personality, needs, and history to ensure long-term success and happiness for everyone involved. We do an informal interview focused on parrot ownership, what you're looking for in a parrot, etc. 

 Once your home inspection is approved, you'll be invited to schedule a day and time to visit Parrot Hope Rescue in Mantua, Ohio. This meet-and-greet allows you to spend time with the bird and see if it’s a good match for your home, lifestyle, and energy. It’s an important step in making sure both you and the parrot feel comfortable and connected before moving forward with adoption. Most of our birds are fostered in volunteers’ homes. Please respect scheduled appointments and provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.

Step 4: Adoption 

 If the meet-and-greet goes well and it’s a good match, you’ll move forward with the adoption that same day. You’ll sign an adoption contract, pay the non-refundable adoption fee, and take your new feathered companion home. Our volunteer team will walk you through everything to ensure a smooth and joyful transition for both you and the bird. 

Appointments are required to meet our birds outside of adoption events.
