Frequently Asked Questions

We’re always working to find loving homes for our parrots, and many are ready to meet their perfect match. Because adoptions and surrenders occur frequently, we don’t maintain a public list of available birds—our volunteer team focuses on direct care and coordination, and keeping an up-to-date roster just isn’t practical. Occasionally, we post available birds on our Facebook page, so check there for updates. If you're genuinely interested in adopting, we’d love to hear from you! Reach out to start a conversation about which birds might be a good fit for your home and lifestyle. 

Our available appointment hours are flexible. Generally, we can accommodate appointment requests seven days a week, between 10 am and 5:30 pm. However, our rescue is not open to the public for walk-in visits. In order to ensure the safety and well-being of both our parrots and our dedicated volunteers, all visits must be scheduled in advance. 

Adoption fees vary depending on each bird’s age, species, and health needs.  Because every bird is unique, we encourage you to contact us directly for the most accurate and up-to-date information. We’re happy to help you find a parrot that fits your home, heart, and budget. 

When choosing a parrot rescue—whether you're looking to adopt or surrender—it's important to be allowed to see where and how the animals are kept and cared for. The environment should be clean and safe, with appropriate enclosures, nutritious diets, and plenty of mental stimulation through toys and human interaction. A reputable rescue should have proper documentation of its nonprofit status and be staffed by individuals with experience, compassion, and a deep understanding of avian care.

At PHR, we’re proud to offer a wide range of services and items designed to support both parrots and the people who care for them. We host educational seminars on a wide range of topics. These are always free and open to the public. Our boarding services offer a cozy, home-like setting for temporary stays. Our on-site store sells high quality, unique toys, food, supplies, and even cages. Our trained volunteers also offer post-adoption support through behavior consultations and general help sessions. For more advanced behavioral or medical issues, we are here to provide referrals to resources we trust. 

 Every bird adopted from Parrot Hope Rescue comes with a signed adoption agreement and a non-refundable fee. While we’re unable to make exceptions to our no-refund policy outlined in the adoption contract, we want every adoptive family to feel supported. If a placement isn’t the right fit, we will always welcome the bird back through our re-surrender process. To protect the safety and well-being of our parrots, our contract also prohibits adopters from selling, transferring, or rehoming any bird adopted from our rescue.
